Monitored Elevator Traffic Data
Building traffic comprises the passengers moving in the building, and the devices that transport the passengers. Passenger service quality depends on passenger demand and traffic mix at different times of day. In elevators, group control system optimizes passenger waiting times, and other parameters such as the number of intermediate stops. This chapter shows that the monitored people flow and elevator data from different types of buildings. Service level and performance data can be followed in real time on manufacturer's monitoring systems, or from the past data saved by elevator systems to servers or to the cloud on a daily, monthly and annual basis. The service quality parameters relate directly to passenger waiting and journey times, queuing, traffic intensity and batch sizes. External devices have been developed to measure the traffic from inside elevator cabins. Office building statistics were measured with an external lift traffic analyzer device survey in Espoo in 1989.
