Improvement of Customer Relations Through Public Opinion Surveys
This article begins by discussing the importance of public opinion to organizations and institutions, and specifically to utilities. Four major procedures are discussed for systematically assessing public opinion, including mail surveys, telephone interviews, group meetings, and face‐to‐face interviews. The fourth category, face‐to‐face surveys, is the focus of the article. The three steps to this kind of survey are questionnaires, a sampling plan, and interviews. Customer complaints, results of polls, and do‐it‐yourself surveys are all discussed.
