Future requirements of Metropolitan District are analyzed in reports made by Regional Plan of New York and Its Environs; separate rapid-transit system for commuters and coordination of trunk-line railroad terminal operations proposed; highways, parkways, bridges, tunnels and airports included in recommendations; plan is result of seven years' work, carried out at expense of over $1,000,000 covering New York City, Long Island, and territory in states of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey lying within 40 to 50 mi. of New York City Hall.
