The invention discloses low-temperature pressureless-sintered silicon carbide ceramic and a preparation method thereof. The silicon carbide ceramic is characterized by being prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 70-90 parts of silicon carbide, 9-15 parts of stainless steel powder, 1-2 parts of hydrolytic polymaleic anhydride, 3-6 parts of manganese powder, 1-2 parts of a silane coupling agent KH-560, 3-4 parts of dextrin, 8-12 parts of brown corundum abrasive, 10-15 parts of anhydrous ethyl alcohol, 2-3 parts of sodium silicate, 3-4 parts of a sintering auxiliary, 3-4 parts of silica and 80-100 parts of deionized water. According to the preparation method, through an accurate ratio design, the raw materials have high density and are improved in performance after being mixed and sintered; the added stainless steel powder increases the sintering density of the ceramic, reduces the sintering temperature and saves resource; and the preparation method adopts a pressureless sintering way, is low in cost and simple to operate, can be used for preparing ceramic components with complex shapes and sizes, and is suitable for mass production.
