The invention discloses a mud-resistant polycarboxylic acid water reducer and a preparation method thereof. The water reducer is composed of the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 25 to 30% of unsaturated polyoxyethylene ether, 2.6 to 3.0% of unsaturated carboxylic acid, 4.5 to 8% of DTPMP.Na7, 0.03 to 0.08% of reducing agent, 0.15 to 0.30% of oxidant, 0.04 to 0.06% of chain transferring agent, 1.0 to 1.1% of pH value adjuster, and the balance being water. The provided mud-resistant polycarboxylic acid water reducer has the advantages of high water reducing rate and good slump loss resistant performance, can be well mixed with the concrete, is capable of being applied to raw materials with a high mud content, and can achieve a good slump loss resistant effect so as to reduce the slump loss.
