The chemical formula of the magneto-optical transparent ceramic is M(x+y+z)Tb(3-x)Sc(2-y)Al(3-z)O12, wherein 0 <= x <= 0.5, 0 <= y <= 0.5,0 <= z <= 0.5, and 0 <= x + y + z <= 0.5; and M is a +3 valent metal ion. The invention also discloses a preparation method of the magneto-optical transparent ceramic. The thermal property and the optical property of the magneto-optic transparent ceramic provided by the invention are close to those of a crystal; and the preparation method provided by the invention is simple in process, can be used for preparing ceramic with a complex shape, can effectively reduce the cost of the magneto-optical element, improves the magneto-optical property of the ceramic by doping other elements in the ceramic preparation process, does not cause component segregation in the sintering process of the doped ceramic, and has a very good practical value.
