The invention provides a gypsum plaster board and a preparation method thereof. The gypsum plaster board is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by mass: 100 parts of desulfurized gypsum; 0.5 to 10 parts of modified starch; 50 to 70 parts of water; and 1 to 10 parts of modified natural zeolite. The preparation method of the gypsum plaster board comprises the following steps that: firstly, the water and modified starch are uniformly mixed to prepare a mixed solution; secondly, the desulfurized gypsum is uniformly mixed with the modified natural zeolite to obtain a mixture; thirdly, the mixed solution is uniformly mixed with the mixture to prepare gypsum slurry; fourthly, the gypsum slurry and surface protection paper are made to be in lap joint and firmly bonded with each other so as to be subjected to molding so as to obtain a wet board; and finally, after the wet board is solidified, the wet board enters a drying machine, and the dried wet board is the gypsum plaster board. With the gypsum plaster board adopted, the technical problems that a gypsum plaster board prepared by taking high-impurity desulfurized gypsum clinker as a raw material is poor in dehydration property and cohesiveness can be solved, and under severe test conditions, the board core and surface protection paper of the gypsum plaster board are not stripped, so that the bonding effect of the gypsum plaster board is good.
