The invention relates to the technical field of building materials, and especially relates to a concrete compactness enhancer and a preparation method thereof. The concrete compactness enhancer comprises, by weight, 45-55 parts of acrylic acid, 95-105 parts of water, 30-40 parts of a chain transfer agent and 4-6 parts of an initiator. The crack resistance and the compactness of the concrete can beeffectively improved. The preparation method of the concrete compactness enhancer comprises the following steps: diluting the chain transfer agent: adding the chain transfer agent into water, and heating to 50-85 DEG C; performing a polymerization reaction: mixing acrylic acid and the initiator, adding the diluted chain transfer agent, and stirring to react for 2.5-3.5 hours to obtain sodium polyacrylate; and adjusting the pH: after the polymerization reaction is finished, cooling to 38-42 DEG C, then adopting NaOH for adjusting the pH of sodium polyacrylate to adjust the pH to 8.0-9.0. The preparation process is simple, and the prepared concrete compactness enhancer is better in effect.
