The embodiment of the invention relates to a device and method for replacing a straddle type monorail turnout tail shaft. The device comprises a supporting mechanism and three chain blocks. The supporting mechanism comprises two first supporting leg assemblies, two second supporting leg assemblies, two first connecting rods and two cross beam assemblies. The two first supporting leg assemblies and the two second supporting leg assemblies are arranged in parallel in a pairwise opposite mode. The two first connecting rods are arranged on the two first supporting leg assemblies located on the same side and the two second supporting leg assemblies located on the same side respectively; each cross beam assembly is arranged on the first supporting leg assembly and the second supporting leg assembly which are located on the same side; and the three chain blocks are arranged on the two cross beam assemblies, so that the arrangement positions of the three chain blocks are triangular, and the tail shaft to be replaced can be replaced conveniently. The three chain blocks on the two cross beam assemblies are arranged to form a triangle, so that the tail shaft can be stably replaced.
