The invention relates to the technical field of electronic ceramics, in particular to a ceramic substrate and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method of the ceramic substrate comprises the following steps: providing a first raw china block and a second raw china block; the first raw ceramic block is placed on a load bearing plate, and then a ceramic powder layer is laid on the surface, away from the load bearing plate, of the first raw ceramic block; placing the second raw china block on the ceramic powder layer, and then carrying out sintering treatment to enable the first raw china block and the second raw china block to respectively form a protective layer and a product layer; and separating the product layer from the protective layer to obtain the separated product layer which is the ceramic substrate. Under the action of the protection layer and the ceramic powder layer, the color consistency of the two surfaces of the product layer ceramic substrate can be effectively controlled, the product layer and the protection layer can be simply separated, the later protection layer treatment process is greatly simplified, and finally the ceramic substrate with small surface color difference is simply and conveniently obtained.
