The invention discloses an aluminum oxide porous cover which comprises the following components in percentage by mass (wt%): 20-90% of aluminum oxide hollow spheres, 5-40% of high-aluminum micro powder, 5-30% of silicon micro powder and 2-10% of a binder. The invention also provides a preparation method of the aluminum oxide porous cover, which comprises the following operation steps: S1, mixing the aluminum oxide hollow spheres, the high-aluminum micro powder and the silicon micro powder according to a certain proportion, adding a proper amount of binder, uniformly mixing, granulating, and carrying out compression molding to obtain an aluminum oxide porous cover green body; and S2, drying the alumina porous cover green body at 50-120 DEG C for 2-4 hours, slowly heating to 500-800 DEG C, discharging glue, slowly heating to 1500-1650 DEG C, sintering for 2-4 hours, and naturally cooling to room temperature along with a furnace to obtain the alumina porous cover finished product. The invention further provides a molten steel hydrogen determination probe comprising the aluminum oxide porous cover. According to the invention, the air permeability of the alumina porous cover can be improved to 60% or more, and the alumina porous cover can be kept for a longer time in a measurement state.
