SEISMIC ISOLATOR AND SEISMIC ISOLATION METHOD
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolator for relieving vertical vibration to a house caused by an earthquake.SOLUTION: A seismic isolator 100 comprises a support leg 1, a slide pan 2 for slidably bearing the support leg 1 and an elastic member 14 for energizing a house in the vertical upward direction. The support leg 1 comprises a slide member 13 for sliding on a slide receiving surface 2a of the slide pan 2 in a lower end part, and the slide member 13 preferably comprises a large number of semispherical projections 131c abutting on the slide receiving surface 2a and is oscillatably supported in the omni-direction by the support leg 1, and is also preferably provided with falling-off prevention means 3 for preventing falling-off of the support leg 1 from the slide pan 2. The falling-off prevention means 3 comprises an endless wire 33 provided slidably and also in plane symmetry by sandwiching the support leg 1 or in rotation symmetry around the support leg 1, in a plurality of upper side slide locking parts 31 provided in the support leg 1 and a plurality of lower side slide locking parts 32 provided on the slide pan 2.
