To provide a chuck device for a steel pipe capable of chucking and releasing an outer peripheral surface of the steel pipe through triggering motion of a chuck mechanism with rotational power transferred from an outer driving source.SOLUTION: A chuck mechanism is composed of: an outer frame body 3 which is a regular hexagonal column shape space provided with opening at both ends, inside which a motion space 31 is configured by a V-grooves at each corner and a cum surface at each side part; holder bodies 4 co-axially arranged with a predetermined space apart from an inner wall of the motion space; a chuck pin 5 in a circular column shape exposed to inner and outer peripheral surfaces at a position corresponding to each corner of the holder body and being pivotably held; and a supporting base 2 and a limit plate 7 allowing the holder bodies holding the chuck pin to axially rotate, as well as being respectively fitted in the openings of both end of the outer frame body through being provided with through-hole openings 21, 71 through which a steel pipe p is penetrated, where an axial diameter of the chuck pin is formed smaller than a gap between an outer peripheral surface of the steel pipe inserted in the holder body and V-grooves at each corner in the motion space as well as is formed larger than a gap distance from the cum surface continuously following each of the V-grooves.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】外部駆動源から伝達される回転力を契機としてチャック機構を作動させ、鋼管の外周面を把持又は開放可能な鋼管のチャック装置を提供する。【解決手段】チャック機構は、両端開放の正六角柱形状の空間であって、各角部のV溝と各辺部のカム面で構成した作動空間31を内側に形成した外枠体3と、作動空間の内面壁から所定間隔をもって同軸配置したホルダ体4と、ホルダ体の各角部に対応した位置にて内外周面に露出、かつ回動自在に保持した円柱状のチャックピン5と、チャックピンを保持したホルダ体を軸転可能にすると共に、鋼管Pを貫通させる貫通口21、71を有して外枠体の両端開放部にそれぞれ嵌合させた支持基台2と抑止板7と、から成り、チャックピンの軸径をホルダ体に貫入状態の鋼管外周面と作動空間の各角部のV溝との間隔より小さく、かつ各V溝から連なるカム面との間隔距離より大きく形成する。【選択図】図1
