To provide a graphite-containing silicon carbide sintered compact having improved abrasion resistance and bending strength which can withstand operation in an unlubricated condition and operation under a high load compared with a graphite-free silicon carbide sintered compact, a method for producing the silicon carbide sintered compact, and a sliding component including the silicon carbide sintered compact.SOLUTION: A silicon carbide sintered compact comprises graphite and silicon carbide having an average particle diameter of 5-20 μm.
