First, Second and Third Action Years of the District of Columbia Neighborhood Development Program: Fourteenth Street Urban Renewal Area
The adopted and approved actions for the 14th Street urban renewal area are the acquisition of 37.3 acres of land for clearance, and redevelopment; the acquisition of 3.6 acres of land for clearance and development for public uses and open space facilities; and the designation of approximately 29.6 acres containing approximately 498 buildings out of a total of 2,786 buildings in the area for rehabilitation. Potential environmental impacts are noted. Adverse environmental effects include the disruption and displacement of existing households; short term disruptions and annoyances assoicated with clearance and construction; increased demand on the existing water supply and storm/sanitary sewer facilities, and traffic impacts.
