Study to determine flow characteristics over spillway and to verify adequacy of stilling basin design was conducted in 1-to-50 undistorted scale section model of gated spillway for Millers Ferry Dam in Alabama; tests revealed that flow separated from downstream face of original gate sill and parabolic shape was added in order to guide flow into stilling basin; spillway rating curves were determined with full and partial gate openings for both gate sill shapes.
