AMSOC core hole in serpentinite near Mayaguez, Puerto Rico
Shallow core hole was drilled in southwest Puerto Rico into exposed serpentinite, which appears to be similar to rocks dredged from ocean bottom to north and northeast of island; coring was accomplished with hydraulic mining type drilling machine, using diamond core bits; total depth of 305 m was reached; 3 γ-ray logs were run in hole using scintillation-counter logging equipment.
