Design and construction of homestake delivery system pipeline
Fifty mile 66 in. delivery system pipe line and associated pumping plant represent substantial proportion of total cost of Homestake Project; line routing, conduit design, and control of transient hydraulic pressures were consequently given thorough study; static head on much of line is in 400 to 500 ft range; every effort has consequently been made to minimize additional pressure due to water hammer; part of line traverses very rugged terrain, presenting major problems in line location.
