Design and construction of prestressed concrete footbridge at chesterfield
Design and construction data on pedestrian bridge with overall length of 360 ft and level difference between two ends being 18 ft 3 in.; piers and abutment are founded on 17 in. diam bored piles; concrete hinges were cast at base and top of piers; piers are of wall type construction in reinforced concrete tapered from top to bottom; 50 ft suspended span weighing 55 tons was cast on ground and lifted to its final position; bonded granolithic topping was adopted; stressing of bridge was carried out on Gifford Burrow system using 7/0.5 in. strands.
