Combined floor-ceiling construction designed to meet requirements of support, separation and fitness for purpose is described; since end in view was wide span (7 m) with minimum thickness, both composite steel-concrete construction and pre-cambering were applied; details of floor troughing with stiffening beams, and of upper suspension system are shown; graph of bending tests confirms theoretical calculations; effective separation of two superimposed stories ensures sound insulation and adequate fire resistance; construction described can also be used as temporary roof.
