Design and construction features of 15 1/4 mi roadway which is 24 ft wide with 15 ft wide central reservation and 9 ft wide hard shoulders, and 28 bridges and various overbridges; project required 3,000,000 cu yd of excavation, 100,000 cu yd of concrete, 65,000 tons of hot rolled asphalt, 60,000 linear yd of drains and culverts, 700 mi of high tensile prestressing wire, 2100 tons of mild steel reinforcement and 2744 tons of structural steel.
