The invention discloses lightweight aggregate concrete and a preparation method thereof and relates to the field of concrete. The concrete is prepared from cement, coal ash, lightweight aggregate, sands, water and polycarboxylate superplasticizer in a mass ratio of 1: (0.00-0.14): (1.53-1.66): (1.27-1.45): (0.28-0.34): (0.085-0.01). The preparation method of the concrete comprises the following steps: putting 1.53-1.66 parts by mass of lightweight aggregate in water for 24 hours and taking out the lightweight aggregate; airing till internal holes of the lightweight aggregate till the saturated face is dried to obtain premixed lightweight aggregate; adding 1.27-1.45 parts of sands and 1 part of cement into the premixed lightweight aggregate; uniformly mixing; adding 0.28-0.34 part of water and 0.085-0.01 part of polycarboxylate superplasticizer; stirring for 90 seconds and discharging to obtain the lightweight aggregate concrete. According to the invention, the compression strength of the lightweight aggregate concrete can be enhanced and the capacity of the lightweight aggregate concrete can be reduced.
