The invention relates to a fireproof particle and a preparation method thereof. The fireproof particle comprises, by mass, 80-100 parts of alumina particles, 25-35 parts of alpha-alumina powder, 15-20 parts of nano-alumina, 20-35 parts of chromium oxide, 10-20 parts of graphene, 5-10 parts of an additive, 7-12 parts of a binder and 5-12 parts of nanometer neodymium oxide. The inside of the fireproof particle prepared in the invention is compact, so the bulk density is improved, and the apparent porosity of the fireproof particle is reduced to prevent expansion, thereby all physical performances, such as the strength, the thermal shock resistance and the thermal impact resistance of the fireproof particle are further improved; and the preparation method has the advantages of simplicity, abundant raw materials, and suitableness for factory production.
