The invention discloses combination building blocks and an ecological retaining wall composed of the combination building blocks. Each building block is a combination structure body composed of a hexahedron and a clamping plate. Each hexahedron comprises a front face, a rear face, a top face, a bottom face, a left face and a right face. A through hole is formed in the middle of each hexahedron and penetrates from the corresponding top face to the corresponding bottom face, each of the left side and the right side of each top face is provided with a backward notch towards the corresponding rear face, and a first forward notch is formed in the middle of each top face towards the corresponding front face; the first forward notches are communicated with the middle through holes, and the backward notches are separated from the middle through holes; the upper portion of each middle through hole is provided with a concave position for storing the corresponding clamping plate. When upper building blocks and lower building blocks are overlapped to form the wall, the middle through hole of each upper building block is communicated with the backward notches of the corresponding lower building block, and the first forward notch and the middle through hole of each upper building block are communicated with the backward notches of the corresponding lower building block, so that an ecological channel for soil retaining and water seeping is formed, and the front side is higher than the rear side of the ecological channel.
