The invention discloses an ecological retaining wall structure based on cavity building blocks in the technical field of water conservancy projects. The ecological retaining wall structure comprises a retaining wall bottom plate, the cavity building blocks, graded broken stones and outer geotechnical cloth. The cavity building blocks are sequentially distributed on the retaining wall bottom plate from top to bottom and located on one side of the soil body, the cavity building blocks are arranged in a staggered mode in the transverse direction to form a step shape, and the space between the cavity building blocks and the soil body is filled with the graded broken stone. The outer geotechnical cloth is laid between the graded broken stone and the soil body in the vertical direction; a planting groove used for being filled with planting soil is formed in the water facing end of the cavity building block, a water permeable hole is formed in the soil facing end of the cavity building block, a sand-free concrete block is formed between the water permeable hole and the planting groove in a casting mode, and inner geotechnical cloth is laid between the water permeable hole and the sand-free concrete block. The ecological landscape of the retaining wall can be increased, the construction convenience can be improved, and the construction cost can be reduced.
