The invention discloses a gypsum board, which is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 100 parts of desulfurized gypsum, 5 to 30 parts of citric acid gypsum, 0.02 to 0.3 part of CaO, 0.6 to 1.0 part of a binding agent and 0.06 to 0.2 part of a foaming agent. The invention also provides a method for preparing the gypsum board, wherein the method comprises the following steps: drying citric acid gypsum to reduce the content of free water to below 15% so as to obtain citric acid gypsum powder; uniformly mixing desulfurized gypsum, the citric acid gypsum powder and CaO, and carrying out ball milling to obtain powder; calcining and aging the obtained powder to obtain building gypsum powder; adding a foaming agent and a binder into water, uniformly stirring, adding the building gypsum powder, and uniformly stirring to obtain slurry; and flatly lying the slurry between upper paper and lower paper, carrying out pressing molding to form a board, and drying to obtain the gypsum board. The gypsum board meeting the national standard (GB/T 9775) is prepared by utilizing the industrial byproduct gypsum.
