The invention provides a gypsum board and a preparation method thereof, and particularly relates to a functional gypsum plaster board with a humidity-sensitive effect. The functional gypsum plaster board is composed of a gypsum board substrate and a coating which coats the surface of the gypsum board substrate. The gypsum board substrate is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 66 to 94 parts of gypsum powder; 1 to 5 parts of diatomite; 1 to 8 parts of zeolite; 1 to 5 parts of silica powder; 1 to 5 parts of cement; 0.3 to 1 part of binder; 0.01 to 0.06 part of foaming agent; and 1 to 10 parts of silica sol solution. The coating is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 45 to 85 parts of polyacrylic emulsion; 10 to 40 parts of allochroic silicagel; 0 to 10 parts of diatomite; and 1 to 5 parts of silica sol solution. According to the gypsum plaster board with the humidity-sensitive effect, on the premise that construction performance is notaffected, the moisture absorption performance and the moisture releasing performance of the gypsum plaster board are improved, the effect of indicating the relative humidity of the environment is achieved, meanwhile, the color of the coating of gypsum plaster can be changed through a color changing function, and the functions of decorating and improving the comfort degree of a living environment are achieved.
