The invention discloses an energy dissipation type prefabricated shear wall and a construction method thereof. The energy dissipation type prefabricated shear wall comprises a wall body, wherein the wall body comprises a first wall plate, a second wall plate and a connecting wall plate for horizontally connecting the first wall plate and the second wall plate; a plurality of energy dissipation dampers are arranged in the connecting wall plate; and the two ends of the energy dissipation dampers are horizontally connected with the connecting surface of the first wall plate and the connecting surface of the second wall plate respectively. The energy dissipation dampers are arranged at the horizontal connecting part of the first wall body and the second wall body, and the energy dissipation dampers are used for effectively dissipating vibration energy transmitted to the connecting part, so that the damping performance is high, and the ductility of the wall body is also enhanced; and the energy dissipation dampers are arranged in the connecting wall plate, and the connecting wall plate prevents the energy dissipation dampers from being corroded on one hand and achieves the functions of sound insulation, fire prevention and the like on the other hand.
