The invention relates to the technical field of building materials, and especially relates to an environment-friendly mortar and a manufacturing method thereof. The manufacturing method comprises the steps that plant ash generated after biomass is burnt is placed in a water pool, a water purification layer on the water surface and impurities in the plant ash flow out together, and then water in the water pool is drained to obtain pure plant ash slurry; the plant ash slurry is kneaded into a ball, and then the ball is sent into a high-temperature furnace and is fully burnt; a proper amount of water is added, mixing and stirring are performed, and standing is performed for cooling; and sand, gypsum and a retarder are added into the plant ash slurry group, and the mixture is uniformly mixed and stirred to obtain the environment-friendly slurry. The environment-friendly slurry is energy-saving and environment-friendly, the production cost is reduced, and the environment-friendly slurry is good in coagulability, waterproof and leakproof.
