VEHICLE POSITION ESTIMATION SYSTEM
A vehicle position estimation system, wherein a plurality of onboard communications devices (12) each arranged at different positions in the vehicle determine the position of a mobile terminal relative to the vehicle, by wireless communication with the mobile terminal. Each of the plurality of onboard communications devices can wirelessly communicate with at least two of a plurality of other devices and comprises: a distance index value acquisition unit (S203) that, by causing each set of onboard communications devices that are in a positional relationship whereby wireless communication is possible to perform wireless communications, obtains a distance index value indicating the distance between the onboard communications devices; a normal range storage unit (M1) that stores data indicating a normal range for the distance index value; and a communications device diagnostic unit (F6) that determines whether or not the onboard communications devices are normal. The communications device diagnostic unit determines that no malfunction has occurred in the device being diagnosed, if the distance index value between the device being diagnosed and at least one other device is within the normal range.
