The invention discloses a height limiting device which comprises a portal frame arranged at the position where the passing height of a construction vehicle needs to be limited; an intelligent identification module which is arranged on the portal frame and is used for acquiring image information of the construction vehicle passing through the portal frame and determining whether a bucket and a bucket arm of the construction vehicle are in a stretching state based on the image information; and an alarm module which is arranged on the portal frame and electrically connected with the intelligent identification module, and the alarm module executes an alarm action when the intelligent identification module determines that the bucket and the bucket arm of the construction vehicle are in the stretching state. The technical problem that in the prior art, a portal frame cannot recognize whether the bucket or the bucket arm of the construction vehicle is in the stretching state or not, and then a driver cannot be warned is solved, and whether the bucket or the bucket arm of the construction vehicle is in the stretching state can be recognized in time; the technical effect of warning the construction vehicle in the stretching state is achieved, accidents are effectively avoided, and personal safety is guaranteed.
