The invention discloses an asphalt pavement maintenance method which is characterized by comprising the following specific steps: S1, when a constructed pavement needs to be subjected to watering maintenance, a watering maintenance device is transferred to a road section where the pavement needing to be maintained is located, a pressure reducing wheel is lowered through a pressure reducing handle of the watering maintenance device, and the pressure reducing wheel is driven by the pressure reducing handle along with the advancing of the watering maintenance device; the water pressing cover downwards extrudes water in the reservoir, and the water is sprayed out from the water spraying valve, so that water is sprayed to the pavement for maintenance; and S2, when the width and the specification of the road surface are changed in the advancing process, the number of groups of the lowered pressure reducing wheels is changed. And S3, after the water in the watering maintenance equipment is used up, all the pressure reducing wheels are lifted, when the pressure reducing wheels of the last group are folded, the watering operation is stopped, and the watering maintenance equipment travels to the water source through the main supporting wheels to carry out water storage work for the next watering operation.
