The control method for the excavator comprises the steps that a walking direction selection signal of the excavator is obtained; determining a target walking electromagnetic valve according to the walking direction selection signal; acquiring a walking speed selection signal of the excavator; determining whether the value of the walking speed selection signal is greater than a first preset threshold; and under the condition that it is determined that the value is larger than the first preset threshold value, a valve element of the target walking electromagnetic valve is controlled to be in a full-open state. According to the embodiment of the invention, the valve core can be completely opened in advance, the throttling loss during half-opening of the valve core is reduced, and the walking economy of the excavator is improved.
