The friction damper capable of automatically relieving the friction force comprises a friction base and a friction block which are fixedly connected with each other, the friction base comprises a first supporting face and a first friction face which are oppositely arranged, the friction block comprises a second supporting face and a second friction face which are oppositely arranged, and the first supporting face and the second supporting face abut against each other in a pressing mode. The first supporting face and the second supporting face abut against each other in a pressing mode, the first friction face above the friction seat applies pressure upwards, the second friction face below the friction block applies pressure downwards, and therefore the friction damper generates friction force on the upper portion and the lower portion as a whole, and when the friction block receives horizontal force from the bottom of the second supporting face to the top of the second supporting face, the friction block shifts, and the friction block moves downwards. When the friction damper works, the first supporting face and the second supporting face are released from abutting, the first friction face above the friction seat eliminates the upward pressing force, the second friction face below the friction block eliminates the downward pressing force, and therefore the friction force generated by the friction damper is released.
