The invention relates to the technical field of geogrids, in particular to a composite material for geogrids and a preparation method thereof.The preparation method includes the steps that high-modulus and high-brittleness high-performance fibers and improved BOP fibers are subjected to three-dimensional weaving, and a biaxial reinforced weft-knitted spacer fabric is prepared to serve as a prefabricated fabric; the ultrahigh relative molecular weight polyethylene, the linear low density polyethylene melt mixture and the high density polyethylene are compounded to serve as a reinforcing material to be completely filled, the reinforcing material and the prefabricated fabric are fully permeated into one, the deformation resistance under the condition of long-term load is achieved, and it is guaranteed that the performance of the product can be kept for a long time.
