The invention relates to a ceramic material, and provides a municipal sludge sintered insulating brick and a preparation method thereof. The municipal sludge sintered insulating brick comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 30-45 parts of municipal sludge, 25-40 parts of shale, 10-15 parts of coal gangue, 10-15 parts of fly ash, 3-5 parts of secondary aluminum ash, 1-3 parts of a binder and 10-20 parts of water. The preparation method of the municipal sludge sintered insulating brick comprises the following steps: drying municipal sludge, and crushing the municipal sludge to a particle size range of 2-3mm; the shale is crushed to be within the particle size range of 2-3 mm; the coal gangue is crushed to the particle size range of 2-3 mm; mixing the municipal sludge, the shale and the coal gangue with the fly ash and the secondary aluminum ash, performing aging treatment, then adding a binder and water, and performing uniform mixing to prepare green bricks; and firing the green brick into the municipal sludge sintered insulating brick.
