The invention relates to the technical field of ceramic substrates, in particular to a large-size ceramic substrate and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method at least comprises the following steps: (1) powder ball milling: a solid phase component is subjected to wet ball milling, ball millstones comprise 15mm large balls, 10mm medium balls and 5mm small balls, the mass ratio of the large balls to the medium balls to the small balls is 1: 2: 1, the dosage of the ball millstones is 3 times of the mass of the solid phase component, and the ball milling time is 24 hours; (2) preparing slurry; (3) tape casting: coating the slurry to obtain a blank strip, and drying the blank strip in a drying chamber with the temperatures of a first temperature zone, a second temperature zone and a third temperature zone of the drying chamber being 30 DEG C, 70 DEG C and 105-110 DEG C respectively; (4) stamping; and (5) sintering. By adjusting the ball-milling stone ratio of the powder and adjusting the tape casting drying temperature, defects can be avoided, the surface roughness of the product is reduced, and the strength of the product is improved.
