The energy-saving and environment-friendly ecological structure comprises a water collecting tank, a planting assembly and a rain shielding assembly, a grid plate is arranged at an opening in the top end of the water collecting tank, the planting assembly comprises a planting groove, the planting groove is formed above the water collecting tank, a supporting plate is arranged on the water collecting tank, and the rain shielding assembly comprises a floating plate, a supporting rod and a rain shielding top plate. The rain-shielding top plate is rotationally connected to the top end of the supporting plate, the floating plate is arranged in the water collecting tank, the supporting rod is vertically connected to the top face of the floating plate, the supporting rod penetrates through the grid plate and extends upwards to be slidably connected with the bottom face of the rain-shielding top plate, the planting groove is formed below the rain-shielding top plate, and a water conveying assembly used for conveying water is arranged between the planting groove and the water collecting tank. The method has the advantages that the vegetation is irrigated, and the possibility of root rot of the vegetation is reduced.
