An underwater cleaning robot (20) comprising: a moving device (23) for moving the underwater cleaning robot (20) underwater; a cleaning device (24) for cleaning objects (2, 3) located underwater; a control device (25) for controlling the moving device (23) and/or the cleaning device (24); and communication means (26, 27) for receiving and/or transmitting signals from outside the underwater cleaning robot (20), and vice versa. The communication device comprises a first ultrasonic transducer (27) for receiving an ultrasonic signal transmitted underwater and is designed to transmit an electrical signal corresponding to the received ultrasonic signal (39) to the control device (25).
