The invention belongs to the technical field of preparation of mine filling materials, and particularly relates to a method for preparing a mine filling material by using ardealite modified red mud, which comprises the following steps: 1) mixing ardealite and red mud, and sequentially drying and grinding to prepare a mixture A of less than or equal to 200 meshes; 2) mixing methylnaphthalene sulfonic acid, formaldehyde and methyl cellulose to prepare a curing agent B; and (3) mixing and stirring the mixture A with the particle size of less than or equal to 200 meshes obtained in the step (1) and the curing agent B obtained in the step (2) to obtain the mine filling material. The method has the advantages of being low in cost, high in product quality, convenient to operate, short in manufacturing time and the like, and the prepared mine filling material has the advantages of being high in strength, not prone to cracking, firm in surface, good in impermeability and freezing resistance and the like.
