The invention discloses a tailing dam construction method coupled with a tailing stockpiling process. The tailing dam construction method comprises the following steps that S1, the earth surface of a damming area and the earth surface of a tailing pond area are cleaned, leveled and laid with an impermeable layer; s2, an initial dam is built on the impermeable layer, a blocking dam is built on the downstream, a damming area is formed in the area between the blocking dam and the initial dam, a tailing pond is formed between the initial dam and the original terrain, and a tailing clarification water area is formed at the tail of the pond area; and S3, along with rising of the beach face in the tailing pond, damming and heightening are conducted in sequence by stages through dry-discharged tailings in the damming area, damming is propelled from the initial dam to the blocking dam until the last-stage construction is completed in front of the blocking dam, and the whole tailing dam is formed. The tailing stockpiling process and the tailing dam construction method are coupled, the dry stockpiling process and the wet stockpiling process are combined, the method has the advantages of being high in tailing pond capacity utilization rate, capable of saving investment and the like, and meanwhile the practical problems that single dry stockpiling or single wet stockpiling tailing ponds are not easy to produce and operate, high in construction investment and high in operation cost are solved.
