PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint device for a roof with a simple configuration that blocks rainwater infiltration for certain, without increasing the number of components.SOLUTION: An expansion joint device 10 for a roof includes: a first rim material 11 fixed on an exterior wall 4 of a first building 1; a second rim material 12 fixed on a parapet 8 of a second building 2; a plurality of sliding members 13 connected to the second rim material 12 in a way that allows angular displacement around an axial line J1 parallel to a void extension direction Y; a plurality of holders 14 each of which is extended in a separation direction X, onto which the sliding member 13 is connected slidably, where an end on the first building side is fixed on the first rim material 11; a cover body 15 supported from below by the plurality of holders 14 and covering a void 3 from above; and a synthetic resin sealing member 17 for sealing between a stepped surface 5 formed on the first building 1 and a part of the cover body 15 facing the stepped surface 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
