To cause a moving member such as a door to be provided with a dimmer function.SOLUTION: A dimmer comprises: a movable member having an opening and openable and closable about a hinge; and a light modulating member fitted into the opening. The light modulating member includes: first and second light transmitting units disposed to face each other and being capable of switching an overlapping condition of the facing surfaces in plural steps by relative movement in a predetermined direction; a first light modulating unit supported by the first light transmitting unit; and a second light modulating unit supported by the second light transmitting unit. The light modulating member has a transmittance in a visible light wavelength range which differs according to the relative movement amounts of the first light transmitting unit and the second light transmitting unit in a predetermined direction in a region where the first light modulating unit and the second light modulating unit overlap each other. The movable member extends in a first direction on a predetermined reference plane and in a second direction intersecting the reference plane. The hinge is attached to one end face side extending in the second direction of the movable member. The light modulating member is disposed closer to one end surface than a center line extending in the second direction through the center position in the first direction of the movable member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
