To provide an operation method of a parking area which is convenient for parking vehicles, and to provide a parking system.SOLUTION: Instead of a conventional operation method of a parking area, in the execution of an entering step, in the case where, after a vehicle enters an entering/exiting space by passing through an entering/exiting port where an entering/exiting door is in an open state from the outside, a person is confirmed to have gone outside by passing through the entering/exiting port where the entering/exiting door is in an open state from the entering/exiting space, presence determination means determines presence/absence of a person in the entering/exiting space. In the execution of an exiting step, in the case where, after a person enters the entering/exiting space by passing through the entering/exiting port where the entering/exiting door is in an open state from the outside, a car is confirmed to have gone outside by passing through the entering/exiting port where the entering/exiting door is in an open state from the entering/exiting space, the presence determination means determines presence/absence of a person in the entering/exiting space.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
