To provide a tundish coating material that is easily removed, wherein seizure with a tundish body material, the Al2O3-SiO2-based refractory, hardly occurs.SOLUTION: A tundish coating material comprises: a magnesia clinker having an MgO content of 90 mass% or more; and 0.3-2.0 mass% magnesium sulfate in terms of outer percentage to the magnesia clinker, wherein the tundish coating material does not comprise sodium silicate substantially.SELECTED DRAWING: None
