To provide a mechanical parking apparatus which efficiently attains improvement of safety and prevents an entrance door from being operated by erroneous operation of a control board by other users in a situation where one user is in a boarding chamber.SOLUTION: A mechanical parking apparatus is provided with an internal camera 8 capable of capturing the inside of a boarding chamber 1, an imaging processing device 15 comprising a person detecting part 18 which detects whether there is a person in the boarding chamber 1 with the use of image data taken by the internal camera 8, and an operator notifying processing unit 28 which provides person detection-related information to a user who attempts to operate a control board 3 when a person is detected in the boarding chamber 1 by image processing of the person detecting part 18, and releases the provision of the person detection-related information when the detected person went away.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
