To provide a water intake equipment and a method for removing foreign matter capable of inhibiting the foreign matter from adhering to the water flow passage.SOLUTION: The water intake equipment comprises: a first water channel having a water intake at one end for taking in seawater and an outlet at the other end for discharging the seawater; a second water channel connected at its one end and the other end to different positions of the first water channel; a drive part for flowing the seawater through the first water channel and the second water channel; and a decomposition enzyme injection device connected to at least one of the first water channel and the second water channel for injecting a decomposition enzyme that decomposes a biofilm adhering to the first water channel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
