This control system for a work machine comprises: a turning body; a work machine that is mounted to the turning body; a turning parking brake capable of stopping turning of the turning body; a turning lock input device that is operated to actuate the turning parking brake; an automatic control command unit that outputs an automatic control command that automatically controls the turning body and the work machine; and an automation permission unit for using an operation state of the turning lock input device to determine whether automatic control can be performed.
