Morrow Point Underground Powerplant Rock Mechanics Investigations: A Water Resources Technical Publication
This report is a sequel to the publication 'Morrow Point Dam and Powerplant Foundation Investigations,' which presented a variety of concepts and methods used by the Bureau of Reclamation in the investigation of foundation conditions at Morrow Point. The thin-arch double-curvature concrete dam and the underground powerplant at Morrow Point represent firsts for the Bureau. The purpose of this report is to present the Bureau's technical findings resulting from the rock mechanics investigations which were conducted at the Morrow Point underground powerplant. One objective of disseminating this information to technicallly interested parties is to foster and encourage further investigations into the various aspects of rock mechanics.
