The city of Indianapolis, Indiana, Department of Parks and Recreation will acquire, in fee title, three parcels of land totaling approximately 167 acres located in southwest Marion County. About 61 acres will be developed as a motorcycle park, another 30 acres will become a community park, and about 76 acres will be added eventually to a golf course. The development will attract users from throughout the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Development and use of the park will generate considerable traffic, perhaps beyond the carrying capacity of existing two-lane highways, and the motorcycle park may impact unfavorably on nearby residents, property values, and some park users. Trail development may encourage erosion. Wildlife will suffer loss of habitat.
